Many of you surely know about this popular forum thread.

Some online casinos use fake payment categories (like "shopping" instead of "gambling") to get around bank rules or self-exclusion.

Is it okay if casino deposits appear as non-gambling payments in your bank records? What's your opinion on this topic?

Sí, creo que está bien. El banco no debería saber todo sobre mis transacciones. Es asunto mío.

Have you ever experienced that yourself, though, in any situation?

In general, it is a practice that is ripe for abuse. As mentioned, it can be lying to banks and to self-exclusion ... it can also be lying to spouses / family or to other entities (police, etc) as well. It is a slippery slope ... and things would probably only go downhill from there.

In my personal experience, when I first tried online gambling, I joined a few sites (multiple because I was primarily after tournaments) ... when the charges came in, most of them were extremely different things (one was clothing if I recall correctly). I thought I was being fraudulently charged and spent some time digging through my records and thinking I might have to cancel my card until I noticed the amounts matched the wagering sites and I realized what was going on. I am not sure if, or how, they might have tried to indicate this would happen, but apparently it was not clear enough for me to expect it.

Also in my experience, the first time I used my card it went through. After that, it would not work. I dug into the rules and saw they excluded gambling sites. I think I would agree it is my money and I should be able to choose how to spend it. This was not a credit card, by the way ... credit cards probably can legitimately have a say in what they are spent on as they are concerned with being paid back what is owed them. But what is money in my account I should be able to spend. But I would rather take that up with a banking institution than let a casino lie about it for me.

Hey, how are you? 🙂

Do you have an answer to question in poll?

What's the best option form these four for you?

I think people just discovered they can get a cashback freebie by banks sometimes. I for one, prefer if the casino is not declared on my billing papers as casino as some other family members would not take that lightly, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, sure. If you prefer it this way.

I believe that many players started to abuse cashbacks this way, and it is no good, of course.

I do agree with the best terms in your betting site

Mejor no juegues.

Sure, I understand what you're saying, and more than one player has complained about this. However, some casinos obviously want to overcome obstacles in certain countries where they don't have a license or can't provide services, and this is one of the ways to achieve that.

As long as the casino is fair and pays out to players and so on, I wouldn't see it as such a problem. But it's worse if it becomes a problem for the casino and later for the players as well.🙂

Yes, you are absolutely right. It would be best if only casinos in countries where they have obtained a license were allowed to operate.

Everything would be regulated and there would be as few problems as possible.

However, we all know that this is not how things work in the online world and that it is more of a utopia or an idea for the future.

I believe that one day we will succeed in ensuring that players are protected as much as possible and that there are as many honest casinos as there can be, which will not have to resort to shady practices.🙂

I’m posting to share my recent experience with Oshi , as I think it's important for others who rely on responsible gambling tools like BetStop or bank gambling blocks.

Despite being registered with BetStop and having a gambling block active through my bank, I was still able to create an account, deposit money, and gamble on this site. Most other platforms correctly blocked me, but this one allowed full access without any safeguards.

When I raised a complaint and requested a refund, they:

Closed the account but offered no refund

Claimed they "don’t cooperate with local institutions"

Provided no clear response to how I was allowed to bypass both national exclusion and banking restrictions

Refused to acknowledge any failure in their responsible gambling policies

This is especially concerning because the payments were not coded as gambling transactions, meaning they slipped past the bank’s gambling block, which is either a serious oversight or a deliberate tactic.

If anyone else has had a similar experience — either with this casino or others that ignored BetStop — I’d really appreciate hearing from you. It’s important we hold operators accountable, especially when they fail to protect vulnerable users.

how can I escalate this further?

Hello, I always feel sorry when someone gets into such a situation.

I would say, but today it is quite common, if I am right, that a casino that does not have a license in a given country, for example, tries to circumvent restrictions in a similar way.

It's not entirely right, even if the casino is honest, but it happens.

The first step you took was to file a complaint with us. We'll see if we can resolve anything, although these cases are quite complex and even one small thing can make the whole situation more difficult.

However, I am also attaching a link to a thread where the same issues have been discussed for quite some time, and you may find your answers there.

You can find it right here 👈

As I said, we will see what we can do and if we can help.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you.🤞
