When I tried going this route with Mastercard they basically told me I authorized the transaction, which is true but the category code not being present until it was pending/posted is an issue.


The other issue is AML compliance but that’s a whole other issue

But isn't this what applies in the Middle East/Africa region? Is it the same for UK/Europe?


I'm wondering if there's any value in quoting the following...


Transaction Type Identifier (TTI) The Transaction Type Identifier (TTI), when present in a Transaction message, must contain a value that is valid and that most accurately describes the purpose for which the Transaction is being conducted. A TTI value must not be used for any purpose other than as set forth in the applicable Standards, including but not limited to the following:


• Customer Interface Specification

• Single Message System Specifications

• IPM Clearing Formats

• Mastercard Gaming and Gambling Payments Program Standards

• Mastercard MoneySend and Funding Transactions

Mastercard have global rules and some regional rules - Gambling is under global rules and some of the identifier info may differ per region but the MCC does not. To be able to accept gambling payments the merchant MUST have a Special Category status which is fully verified - not a single one of these casinos or merchants have that status and that is what is the most important thing here. Imagine a gun shop that wasn't licenced to sell guns and just provided guns to everyone - well this is the same.

I've sent an email to complaints at Monzo asking them for the TTI codes used for all 27 transactions with one of these merchants- will see what they come back with as this may be the route to take - as opposed to trying Chargebacks? Not sure I have anything to lose by trying.


Either that or I email the Merchants/Casino directly, quoting the above and let them know I'll go to my bank/MC/relevant authorities and report that they are not following the rules.

I have some chargebacks expiring on the 9th. The bank has said if they don’t hear by the end of day on 9th, I’ll automatically win.


It sounds promising, surely the merchant would have refused the chargeback by now and not leave it last minute? Has anyone had this before, do you literally get the money the next day?
