20 years ago this would have worked. You put money into the Bank and 7 years later it would have grown to something. These days you need to trade money to get something out of it. It's the same thing as gambling. Or worse. A lot of Germans lost their early retirement savings thanks to wire

If only it was that easy to figure out how to quit playing for the day.

When I used to play, my addicted brain wouldn’t allow me to stop until I’d spent all my money or the casino would put a deposit block on my account.

Of course then I’d just try a different casino and repeat the same thing over and over.

Thankfully after years of fighting with the curse I have finally managed to gain control of my life and these days I simply don’t gamble.

It has taken me many years to know that once I start to gamble that I can’t stop. So for me personally it is much safer to stay away!

Stay safe guys,

Charlie

Hi! Is this topic already inactive? A cool idea is to put a limit on your casino account (only not everyone has it) I rarely play, while I only lose or go to zero

I've never won more than $500 before..)

I think the limits are often underestimated not only by players, but casinos as well. In my opinion, it's extremely great protection tool, but only in a case when the tool works correctly.

The best combination is setting your deposit (per week or month) and then when you suddenly manage to win a lot, then the best option is setting up your loss limit so you only know that you can lose a certain amount from your recent winnings, but you'll never lose it all.

Unfortunately, there are many casinos where you don't even have this option.

Yes, it can be for a day, a week or a month. Some casinos have this option to set different limits, but the problem is that whenever a player reaches this limit, they just carry on playing in another casino 🙁

Putting a small amount of cash in your account can save you from overbetting. It would save you from self-sabotaging and can keep your psych in place all the time. People tend to overbet even when they have a limited daily budget when they have more money in their accounts.

that never goes that way

If you ever make some good wins a day in a casino, it's time to quit for the week not just for the day. Same thing if you lose on that day, you should also quit. But either cases are always tempting to continue to play which is why people lose a lot more.

For example, if they win, they get excited and greedy about the easy money, and think it is going to be easier to win just a bit more and end up losing their wins for that day, and If they lose, they get sad and challenged to recover what they lost, and sometimes end up losing even more.

Well said.

Sadly it's not so easy to keep going like that, at least for addicted players.

That reminds me one quote I read yesterday: "It's hard to walk away from a winning streak, even harder to leave the table when you're on a losing one."

I'd say the best approach is to decide how much you're willing to lose before you start playing. If you're willing to lose 100, you should deposit 100, but that's it. It's better to decide before you start playing since many ppl tend to chase losses when they have bad luck.

The main problem is that players who are addicted to gambling can make the decision about depositing 100, but then they deposit 7x 100 during the games session. That's why it's always a good idea to set deposit limits if the casino has this option available.

Unfortunately Daniel, the addicted player will never set a deposit limit at the start of a gambling session.

This is because you convince yourself that you will only play 50 and then stop. But after the first 50 another 50 soon gets deposited. Still at this point your addicted brain tricks you to think that you are in control of what you are doing. Then another 50, then 100, then 200 and then you put 500 in because you are so sure that you are still in control.

Unfortunately, you are not in control. You wasn’t at the beginning.

Whilst I do agree that deposit limits are a fantastic idea. The only way that they could possibly work for an addicted player is if they are automatically applied at the beginning of the creation of the account. But this will never be possible because not one gambling addict would ever admit to a casino on sign up that they have an issue.

The theory behind all these controls is all well and good for the vast majority of people who enjoy gambling responsibly. For the problem player, things like this will never be enough to stop to urge.

Self exclusion is the only prevention that can help a gambling addict begin their recovery. This along with other help that is available to suit the individuals needs

Stay safe

Exactly, I wanted to point this out few days go. Even deposit limit isn't a 100% solution.
